Kids Yoga

Yoga and mindfulness have been shown to improve both physical and mental health in school age children (6-12). Yoga improves balance, strength, endurance, and aerobic capacity in children. Yoga and mindfulness offer psychological benefits for children as well. Research shows that yoga can improve focus, memory, self esteem, academic performance and can reduce anxiety and stress in children. Pre-teens and teens also benefit greatly from yoga and mindfulness, Yoga in pre-teens and teens in their formative years is key for developing healthy exercise habits, including mental & physical strength, flexibility and balance etc. Consider bringing a group of school kids, sport teams or family and friends together for a private class hosted by Margo Sage Health & Wellness.

Karma Yoga

Margo volunteers at the Toronto location of Ronald McDonald House. Once a month she teaches yoga and mindfulness to the parents of the children that are undergoing care at Sick Kids Hospital. It provides the parents an hour of time on their own to destress both mentally and physically. We are working with the house to offer a kids yoga program for the siblings of the children that are undergoing treatment. As the entire family in many cases are staying at the home, the kids are pulled from their regular routine of school, friends etc. The attention from parents and caregivers is mainly on the sick child. Therefore the siblings are often left feeling alone and scared. The thought is that a kids yoga program will allow them to feel part of something just for them while providing the tools to manage the stress and anxieties that they are feeling.

Mindfulness & Meditation

Mindfulness, meditation and breathing with intention can help relieve stress, treat heart disease, lower blood pressure, reduce chronic pain, improve sleep etc. Mindfulness is the practice of purposely focusing our attention on the present moment and accepting it without judgement. Mindfulness is now being examined scientifically and has been found to be a key element in stress reduction and overall happiness.

Breathing with intention can aid in calming our nervous system and increasing our immune system.

“If you want to conquer the anxiety of life, live in the moment, live in the breath.”
